Holly Springs Newborn Photographer {Mallory}

I first “met” Katie through Facebook during our model search for a photography workshop in July.  She volunteered to help us out but upon reaching out to her, learned that she had in fact had her baby already!  4 weeks early.  As a consolation for missing out on the modeling opportunity, I offered her a discounted newborn session however she wasn’t able to commit as her sweet baby Mallory was in the NICU and they were unsure of when she would be coming home. Even when her baby girl could come home, she had experienced a brachial plexus injury at birth and so posing was questionable.

We spent several days messaging back and forth, as my heart went out to her having had a similar experience of my daughter spending a week in the (cardiac) ICU and being sent home without her.  The sadness and disappointment of leaving for home without your baby, the anxiety of if everything is okay with this life you just gave birth to, the post-delivery hormones surging in an environment fit to make the strongest man cry, and the mourning over the loss of how you pictured it all would be came rushing back.  My heart was aching for this family and so I offered the smallest gesture and the only thing I had to give (aside from minimal advice as a pediatric occupational therapist)… photos.  Images of Katie and her husband with their new miracle.  Because it’s the least I could do, and a gift I hope they will cherish forever.
